Composition :
Each 5 ml syrup contains :
Bromhexine HCl ................................................................ 4 mg
Ethanol ........................................................................... 3,5 %
Mode of action :
Bromika reduces the viscosity of respiratory tract secretions by changing the structure of mucoproteins and mucopolysaccharides in sputum and thereby easing difficulty in expectoration.
Indications :
Bromika is indicated for the treatment of productive coughs to facilitate expectoration, such as cough due to influenza or respiratory tract inflammation.
Dosage :
Children 2 - 5 years : 2 x 1 measuring spoonful.
Children 5 - 10 years : 3 x 1 measuring spoonful.
Adults & Children > 10 years : 3 x 2 measuring spoonful.
Or according to the physician.
Warning and precautions :
Bromika should be given cautiously to patients with gastic ulceration and to pregnant women during the first trimester of pregnancy and lactating women.
Adverse effect :
The following adverse effects may occur : nausea, diarrhea, gastrointestinal disturbances, but these are almost invariably mild. Headache, vertigo, sweating, skin rash and a transient rise in transaminase have been reported.
Drug interaction :
Concomitant administration of antibiotics (amoxicillin, cefaroxine, doxycycline) will increase the antibiotic concentration.
