Dosage :
The initial dose of FLASON varies from 4 - 48 mg/day (depending on the type and seventy of the disease, and the patients response). If favourable therapeutic effect has been oblained, the proper maintenance dosage should be determined by decreasing the initial drugs dosage in small decrements at appropriate time intervals untill the lowest dosage which will maintain an adequate clinical response is reached.
For those patients who are on FLASON for just days, abrupt discontinuation of the drug is possible. However for patients who have been on large doses of flason for 1-2 weeks withdrawal of the drug should be performed by stepwise reduction of the dose with a interval of a view days.
Compared with administration in divided doses, FLASON preferably administered as a single dose in the morning, because it conforms more to the physiological secretion deurnal rhythm of the adrenal cortical hormone.
For patients requiring long-term FLASON ( treatment more than 2 weeks), it is recommended to use ADT (alternate - day therapy). The benefit of ADT is to minimize certain undesirable effects, including hypothalamic-pituilary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppresion, the Cushingoid state, growth suppression in children, and corticoid withdrawal symptoms. Alternate day therapy (ADT) is a corticosteroid dosing regimen in which twice the usual daily dose of corticoid is administered every other morning.
