Composition :
Each capsule contains Thiamphenicol 500mg
Indications :
Infections due to organisms sensitive to Thiamphenicol :
- Urogenital tract infections, gonorrhoea
- Alimentary tract infections, typhoid and paratyphoid fevers
- Respiratory tract infections
Adverse reactions :
Gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhea occur occasionally. Reversible bone marrow depression may be encountered in prolonged use.
Dosage :
Adults :
1,5 g daily in divided doses, in severe cases (typhoid fever, meningitis) up to 3 g for 1 week, followed by normal dosage.
Children :
25 mg/kg bodyweight daily, in severe cases (typhoid fever, meningitis) 50 mg/kg bodyweight daily for 1 week, followed by normal dosage. Gonorrhoea :
2,5 g administered as a single dose.
