Composition :
Each gram of cream/ointment contains :
Clobetasol propionate 0.5 mg
Indications :
Topical steroid used in short courses of treatment of the more resistant dermatoses such as psoriasis, recalcitrant eczema, lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus and other conditions which do not respond satisfactoring to less active steroids.
Dosage and Administration :
Apply thinly to the affected skin areas once or twice daily.
Adverse reactions :
Excessive use over large surface areas may augment systemic absorption, producing adrenal suppresion, Cushing”s syndrome, hypertension. Burning sensation, itching, atropic changes of the skin, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneform eruption, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, skin maceration, secondary infection, striae and miliaria. Use of occlusive dressings may increase absorption to topical corticosteroids. Prolonged intensive use of potent corticosteroids may cause signs of atrophy, such as striae, skin atrophy, vasodilatation especially when using occlusive dressings.
