Composition :
Each ml contains : Ketoconazole.............................................20 mg
Pharmacology :
ZOLORAL-SS is an antimycotic agent which inhibits the growth of dermatophytes (e.g. Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, Microsporum) and yeasts (e.g. Candida) and Malassezia furfur (Pityrosporum orbiculare).
ZOLORAL-SS can remove patches on the trunk and itching due to Pityriasis versicolor, Dermatitis seborrhoeic and Pityriasis capitis (dandruff).
Hardly no Ketoconazole absorption occurs through the skin.Therefore no detectable ketoconazole levels were found in the blood, so that no systemic effects were observed even after continuous use.
Indications :
ZOLORAL-SS is indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of yeast infections of the Pityrosporum type, such as Pityriasis versicolor (on certain regions), Dermatitis seborrhoeic and Pityriasis capitis which have been clearly diagnosed.
Dosage and direction for use :
ZOLORAL-SS is used to wash the scalp and hair. Leave in place for 3 to 5 minutes, and then rinse off with water.
For treatment of :
- Pityriasis versicolor infection, once a day for 5 days
- Dermatitis seborrhoeic and Pityriasis capitis (dandruff): twice a week for 2 – 4 weeks
2 weeks.
Adverse reactions :
ZOLORAL-SS is well tolerated. Irritation may occur when
ZOLORAL-SS is used immediately after long term corticosteroid therapy.
Contraindications :
There is no adequate information on the use of ZOLORAL-SS in pregnant women and nursing mothers. Although Ketoconazole is not absorbed through the skin, as with all new drugs use of
ZOLORAL-SS is not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy. Use of ZOLORAL-SS is also not recommended for nursing mothers.
