Composition :
IVANES Injection 500 mg/10 ml :
Each ml contains 50 mg Ketamine (as the hydrochloride)
IVANES Injection 1000 mg/10ml :
Each ml contains : 100mg Ketamine (as the hydrochloride) Ketamine HCI is 2 (chlorophenyl)-2- (methylamino)
cyclohexanone HCI.
IVANES supplied as a slighty - acid (pH 3,5 - 5,5) solution.
Actions :
Ketamine HCI is a rapid-acting, non-barbiturate general anaesthetic. The altered state of consciousness accompanied by a profound analgesia that is produced by IVANES has been termed dissociative anaesthesia.
Indications :
1. As the sole anaesthetic agent for diagnostic and surgical procedures. Although best suited for short procedures, it can be used with additional doses, for procedures requiring anaesthesia for periods of 6 hrs or longer.
Note : If skeletal muscle relaxation is desired, a muscle relaxant should be used.
2. For the induction of anaesthesia prior to the administration of other general anaesthetic agents.
3. To supplement low potency of other anaesthetic agents.
4. In obstetrical analgesic and anaesthesia.
Contraindications :
IVANES is contraindicated in persons in whom an elevation of blood pressure would constitute a sirious hazard. IVANES should not be used in patients with eclampsia or pre-eclampsia.
